Edward J. Federman, Ph.D., is the co-founder and CEO of EvalPros, which specializes in program evaluation and development and has helped nonprofit organizations raise more than $35 million. Dr. Federman is a clinical psychologist who has served on the faculty at the Boston University School of Medicine and Simmons School of Social Work. He taught mathematics (M.A., Indiana University) at Wilberforce University before turning his attention to clinical psychology (Ph.D., Virginia Commonwealth University) and supporting veterans at the ENRM VA Medical Center in Massachusetts where he developed and directed pre- and post-doctoral training programs, the Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy Center and the Center for Problem Gambling. His research on schizophrenia and pathological gambling has been funded by grants from the federal government and Harvard Medical School. He is first author of the book Don’t Leave It to Chance: A Guide for Families of Problem Gamblers (New Harbinger), which has been published in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Asia. His current research focuses on viable ways to address social isolation and loneliness. His research can be found in Child Development, Developmental Psychology, American Journal of Psychiatry, Perceptual and Motor Skills, Journal of Counseling Psychology, Journal of Clinical Psychology, Pragmatic Case Studies in Psychotherapy and the American Journal on Addictions. Dr. Federman consults on program development and outcome evaluation to nonprofits, the federal government and mental health organizations.


Rachel Federman is a writer and editor whose 50 books include The Collins Stargazer Bible: Your Illustrated Companion to the Night Sky (HarperCollinsUK), as well as Kiss in the Dark (Random House), The Herbal Handbook (Clarkson Potter), and Mer-Mania (HarperCollinsUK). After serving as an intern in Environmental Affairs for Senator Kerry, Rachel co-founded EvalPros in 2001 where she has worked on grant writing, program design and evaluation for nonprofits. Rachel holds a Master of Arts in English from Fordham University and an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
